Berlin resident Bloody Mary aka Marjorie Migliaccio is the latest recruit to Jay Haze's tech-house cool crew. For her debut album on Contexterrior she's crafted a stylish set of elastic grooves including collaborations with Cadenza's Argenis Brito and Danton Eeprom who both complement her noirish and sensually grooved sound. She's equally adept at creating streamlined but darkly tinted club grooves as on the Brito collab 'Sed Non Satiata' as she is at shoegazing introspection on 'Elevation', making sure this defnitely isn't just an album of soundalike tech-house patterns from start to finish.

David Alvarado continues to release beautiful house music on Peacefrog, music full of soul, summer and love. This is a very lush record, full of grooves and deep emotive tones. The opener, aptly titled ‘The beginning’ is a bongo clad groove with deep chords and a subtle beat rolling away underneath, a real mover. ‘Beautification’ is a floor friendly spacious track of the highest degree, floating female vocals and deep chords set the mood perfectly, filtered synths move the track around and echoing vocals fill it up superbly.

For 2009 I Records re-invents its’ pioneering Jazz Influence series and now proudly presents the culmination of the first three CD’s. ““The Jazz Influence-House of Jazz Edition” is were it has all been heading since 2006”, says Kevin Yost the musical guru behind this series. “ A mixture of what these recordings are in their essence and what they can be for the new generation of listeners, this is the ultimate development of the jazz house-electronic fusion”. I Records and Yost directed this newest album with two distinct requirements. This album is one of the most cherished and influential pieces of electronic music ever. Upon its release in 1994 it sounded like little that had come before it, taking the first wave influences of tracky Chicago boxjams and Detroit funk-finesse before gutting them and fitting them out with a shiny new Detroit motor that clicked and whirred with a well tuned German efficiency but funked like an Afro-American. Henrik Schwarz's recent 'Grandfather Paradox' mix sets Hood's classic 'Minus' alongside other legendary minimalists like Conrad Schnitzler and Steve Reich which is very fair, but Hood's minimalism is more about funk than any academic ambitions.
